Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei says China and Japan have
been preparing for the next round of vice foreign minister consultation
on the Diaoyu Islands issue. He reiterated that China is willing to
solve the dispute through negotiations, but would never give in on the
country’s sovereignty.
Hong Lei, spokesman of Chinese Foreign Ministry, said, "China has solemnly expressed its stance on the Diaoyu Islands and its determination to safeguard the country’s sovereignty integrity at various negotiations.
China has also urged Japan to admit its mistakes and make efforts to solve the dispute. And we believe the current trend in the region is toward peace and development. Some military exercises will not help enhance regional security trust and we hope some individual countries will do more to contribute to regional peace and stability."
