Modern takes on a Welsh dragon and a Celtic knot –
iconic symbols of Wales – feature on the logo for the Alliance’s
September Wales Summit which was unveiled in the margins of the NATO
foreign ministers meeting on Wednesday (25 June 2014) by NATO Secretary
General Anders Fogh Rasmussen and British Foreign Secretary William
Hague in the presence of David Jones, the British Secretary of State for
Wales. “This is a vibrant tapestry that presents strong symbols of
Wales in a modern way,” said the Secretary General.
The logo also features a castle and the Newport Transport
Bridge alongside the official emblem of the Alliance, a white and blue
compass on a blue background. Mr. Fogh Rasmussen said the symbols draw
on the past and look to the future.
