De Mistura doesn’t expect intra-Syrian talks to be resumed before 2 or 3 weeks

UN special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura said on Thursday he has no intention to send invitations for a new round of the intra-Syrian dialogue before two or three weeks.

AFP quoted diplomats as saying that de Mistura presented to UN Security council members via video a brief about developments of his mission, saying “It is necessary to achieve a progress in applying the cessation of hostilities agreement and delivering the humanitarian aid before resuming the talks.”

The diplomats added that de Mistura referred to a drop in the level of fighting, in general, in Syria.
