A demarche of Russian envoy to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin in relation to UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Hussein is not linked to US presidential candidate Donald Trump, but to him going beyond his mandate, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
On Tuesday, media reports emerged claiming that Churkin filed a complaint against Hussein after he slammed Trump and two European politicians.
"His position is not about passing the ruling or passing judgment on sovereign states – his position is to protect human rights and this does not involve intervention in domestic affairs," Lavrov told CNN. The Russian minister added that the demarche did not include the names of Trump or any other politicians.
