Defeating the Islamic State group is a top priority for Islam today, yet it cannot be achieved without help from Christians and Jews, Jordan's King Abdullah II told an Australian TV channel in comments published on Wednesday.
Speaking to the ABC channel, the monarch opined that "it’s the enemy that want to create this atmosphere that is actually us against them, and this is where, I think, we’re going to fall into major trouble over the next couple of years if it’s ‘us-against-them’ mentality."
"We’re actually all in the same trench Muslims, Christians, and Jews against what I keep calling the outlaws of our religion," Abdullah further added.
Jordan is a leading member of the US-led coalition fighting the Islamic State group in neighboring Iraq and Syria, and has carried out air strikes targeting IS jihadists and hosts coalition troops on its territory.
