Attention has instead focused on the upper Senate where Democrats hope to wrest power from Republicans.
Embattled Republicans are defending their Senate seats in the key presidential swing states, giving Democrats hope they can win the five they would need to take control.
Democrats had so far taken one Senate seat from Republicans in Illinois, while Republicans held onto seats in Ohio and Florida.
The Republican party currently controls both the Senate and the House of Representatives. Thirty-four of 100 Senate seats are up for grabs, as are all 435 seats in the House.
