Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov expressed regret on Wednesday over the failure by the United Nations to use humanitarian pauses in Syria's embattled city of Aleppo to deliver relief to local residents.
Gatilov held consultations on Wednesday with Deputy UN Special Envoy for Syria, Ambassador Ramzy Ezzeldin Ramzy, focusing on the revival of the political process in Syria amid a prolonged suspension of intra-Syrian reconciliation talks.
"The Russian side expressed regret that the humanitarian pauses in Aleppo have not been used to deliver humanitarian aid to eastern parts of the city and to evacuate wounded and sick from there," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
