Ukraine detains hundreds of civilians in Kherson for POW swap

The Ukrainian authorities have detained hundreds of local residents in Kherson, planning to use them in an exchange for prisoners of war, the Kherson Region governor’s freelance adviser, Alexander Malkevich, told TASS on Thursday.

"How many men are now held prisoner on our side? At least several hundred. We are certain that the Kiev regime is now forming a so-called ‘swap fund’, if you wish. We know that thousands of prisoners of war, their soldiers, are in our custody. In the meantime, the Ukrainian side has nobody to exchange them for. They are, to put it cynically, replenishing stocks in this way," Malkevich said.
