Russia has entered a phase of the most acute confrontation with the collective West represented by the United States, the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance. This statement was made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, speaking on the sidelines of the XXXI Assembly of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy.

    “Hopes for integration with the West as a sovereign power have not materialized. It is clear that the Western track that has been developing in our foreign policy until recently has completely exhausted itself. We have entered into a full-scale confrontation with an aggressive bloc consisting of the United States, the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance,” Lavrov said.
