A war correspondent for Russia’s RIA news agency has been killed and three other Russian journalists were wounded by shelling near the front line in southeastern Zaporizhia region, Russia’s defense ministry said.
The ministry said the journalists were wounded in a Ukrainian artillery strike on Saturday.
They were evacuated from the battlefield but RIA correspondent Rostislav Zhuravlev died during the journey, it said.
"At about 12:00 on July 22, 2023, Ukrainian forces carried out an artillery strike at a group of Izvestia and RIA Novosti reporters preparing their reports about Ukrainian cluster munition shellings of Zaporozhye Region settlements. A cluster munitions strike caused various injuries to four reporters," the Ministry said.
