Palestine has appealed to the International Criminal Court (ICC) over Israeli actions in the Gaza Strip. This was announced by the Palestinian Ambassador in Vienna Salah Abdel Shafi.
“We believe that all these crimes should not go unpunished. Therefore, Israel must be called to account. In this regard, we submitted applications to the International Criminal Court,” said the diplomat.
According to him, the appeals to the court were sent about three weeks ago. Salah Abdel Shafi also spoke about the reaction of the ICC chief prosecutor to what is happening in Gaza.
“The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court visited the region, and he said that, of course, Hamas could have committed war crimes on October 7, but so did Israel,” the ambassador said.
At the same time, he emphasized that all those who committed war crimes, be they citizens of Israel or Palestine, must be brought to justice. It is necessary to conduct an appropriate investigation and punish the perpetrators, regardless of nationality, he is convinced.
