Speaking on French radio, the president of the far-right National Rally (RN) Marine Le Pen said that winning around 270 deputies would allow her party to open talks with individual MPs from other groups in the hope of persuading them into forming a government.
“We are going to say to them: ‘Are you ready to participate with us in a new majority? Are you ready to vote a confidence motion? Are you ready to vote for the budget?’” she said.
She mentioned as possible allies independent MPs from both centre-right and centre-left, and part of the conservative party Les Republicans (LR), which won 10% of the vote on Sunday.
The left-wing France Unbowed party's national coordinator rejected on Tuesday the idea of joining forces with French President Emmanuel Macron's centrist Ensemble coalition, arguing they had different goals.
