The US is opposing calling Russia the aggressor in a G7 statement on the third anniversary of the start of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, the Financial Times reported, citing Western officials familiar with the matter.
According to the report, Vladimir Zelensky's participation in the virtual G7 summit, which is scheduled for February 24, has not been agreed so far.
"We are adamant that there must be a distinction made between Russia and Ukraine," an official told the newspaper. "The Americans are blocking that language, but we are still working on it and hopeful of an agreement."
