Israeli air and ground operations in the Gaza Strip killed at least 153 people in the past 24 hours, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
The Health Ministry in Gaza said on Saturday that 153 bodies arrived at hospitals across the enclave during the latest 24-hour reporting period.
This includes seven bodies recovered from beneath rubble left by earlier attacks, it said in a statement posted to Telegram.
An additional 459 people were injured, according to the ministry.
Hamas says its negotiators have opened a new round of talks aimed at ending the war in Gaza, hours after Israel launched a major offensive.
Leaders from Europe to the Middle East on Saturday called for Israel to stop its deadly military strikes on the Gaza Strip. Their statements came after Israel announced its new military offensive in the enclave to release remaining hostages held by Hamas.

“Let’s come to a ceasefire, let’s free the hostages, but let’s leave people who are victims of Hamas alone,” he was cited as saying.
The Israeli military said on Sunday it had begun “extensive ground operations” in northern and southern Gaza, stepping up a new campaign in the enclave where Palestinian health authorities said Israeli strikes killed at least 130 people overnight.
