Grossi made IAEA tool for unleashing war against Iran

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei has accused IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi of turning the agency into a tool for provoking conflict against Iran.

In a post on his X social media account, Baghaei stated, "You have betrayed the non-proliferation regime. You have made the IAEA an accomplice in this unjust aggressive war, transforming it into a convenient instrument for countries that have not signed the NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty) to strip NPT signatories of their fundamental rights as outlined in Article 4."

Baghaei contended that the IAEA has failed to produce concrete evidence that Iran is actively seeking to develop nuclear weapons. Instead, he asserted, the agency's biased reports have been exploited by the US and the EU troika to craft resolutions filled with unfounded accusations of non-compliance. He argued that these resolutions serve as pretexts for military actions, citing Iran’s nuclear facilities to justify aggressive measures.

Iran maintains that its nuclear program is solely peaceful. However, following the US withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear agreement, Tehran ceased adhering to the treaty’s limits, progressively increasing uranium enrichment levels to 60%, a level nearing that required for nuclear weapon production, according to the IAEA.

  4. The Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson lashed out at the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency for betraying the nuclear non-proliferation regime and presenting a biased report that encouraged the Israeli regime to wage of war of aggression against Iran.

In a post on his X account on Thursday, Esmaeil Baqaei cited comments by IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi who has acknowledged that the IAEA “did not have any evidence of a systematic effort (by Iran) to move into a nuclear weapon.”

“This is too late, Mr. Grossi: you obscured this truth in your absolutely biased report that was instrumentalized by E3/US to craft a resolution with baseless allegation of ‘non-compliance’; the same resolution was then utilized, as a final pretext, by a genocidal warmongering regime to wage a war of aggression on Iran and to launch an unlawful attack on our peaceful nuclear facilities,” Baqaei said.

“Do you know how many innocent Iranians have been killed/maimed as a result of this criminal war? Is it how an international civil servant tested for assigning the UN leadership? Misleading narratives have dire consequences, Mr. Grossi, and demand accountability,” the spokesman stated.

“You betrayed the non-proliferation regime; You’ve made IAEA a partner to this unjust war of aggression; You turned IAEA into a tool of convenience for non-NPT members to deprive NPT members of their basic right under Article 4. Any clear conscience?” he asked Grossi.
