The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has identified the launch of two missiles from Yemen toward the Jewish state.
"Attempts were made to intercept the missiles and the results of the interception are under review," the IDF said in a statement.
According to the Israeli military, sirens were sounded "in accordance with protocol."
Earlier, the IDF said that a projectile had been launched from Yemen and that "aerial defense systems are operating to intercept the threat.".
The Israeli Air Force (IAF) is delivering strikes on Yemen's Red Sea port city of Hodeidah, Al Masirah television reported.
Powerful explosions can be heard in the vicinity of the Houthi-controlled port, Al Arabiya and Al Mayadeen TV channels quoted local sources as saying.
Witnesses, too, reported a major fire caused by Israeli airstrikes.

ReplyDeleteThe strikes came minutes after the Israeli military issued an urgent evacuation warning on the social media platform X. Witnesses reported explosions in several locations along Yemen's western coast, including the port of Hodeidah.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said in a statement that the strikes targeted what he described as Houthi strongholds, including the ports of Hodeidah, As Salif, and Ras Isa, the Ras Katib power station, and the Galaxy Leader, a ship seized by Houthi forces in November 2023.
The Israeli military said the targeted ports had been used by the Houthis to "transfer weapons from the Iranian regime, which are then used to carry out terror operations against the State of Israel and its allies."
Houthi rebels from Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement have delivered a series of strikes using missiles and drones on Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, sea ports in Ashdod and Eilat as well as on an electric power station in Ashkelon, the movement’s military spokesman Yahya Saree said.
