The Kremlin has said that European powers were hindering US President Donald Trump's efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov added that Russia would continue its operation in Ukraine until Moscow saw real signs that Kyiv was ready for peace.
Mr Peskov told Russian state media reporters that the "European party of war" was continuing to hinder US and Russian efforts on Ukraine.
He said that Russia was grateful to Mr Trump for these efforts and that Moscow would continue the "special military operation" as it had so far seen no "reciprocal" moves from Ukraine aimed at peace.
It comes as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine is planning new strikes aimed deep into Russia.

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov criticized as a big mistake Europeans’ attempts to derail US President Donald Trump’s efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict.
ReplyDelete"Europeans hamper these efforts [on the part of the US leader to resolve the Ukraine crisis]. Europeans are putting a spoke in the wheels. Europeans have been egging the Kiev regime on and, perhaps, encouraging it to pursue the intransigent policy line in quite an absurd way. This is a big mistake," Peskov told VGTRK reporters in an interview.
"This will do no good to the Kiev regime. On the contrary, this will make the situation even harder for the Kiev regime," the Russian presidential spokesman warned.
With their harsh statements directed at Russian President Vladimir Putin, EU leaders are trying to achieve their long-standing goal of containing Russia by any means necessary, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told VGTRK reporters.
ReplyDeleteIn response to a question about whether Europe is trying to disrupt Russia-US dialogue with its harsh statements directed at Putin, the spokesman said: "Well, they [European countries] have not set themselves [the goal of disrupting Russian-US dialogue]; historically, they have long set themselves the goal of containing Russia, our country, by any means necessary. This is a familiar trend, and we are aware of it and already know how to counteract it."
