The UK Foreign Office has summoned Russian Ambassador to London Andrey Kelin following damage to the Kiev office of the British Council, an organization recognized as undesirable in Russia, Foreign Secretary David Lammy said.
"We have summoned the Russian Ambassador. The killing and destruction must stop," Lammy wrote on X.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer earlier confirmed that the British Council building in Kiev had been damaged in overnight air strikes. The organization’s office in Ukraine said the facility "has been severely damaged and will be closed to visitors until further notice.".

The Bayraktar factory that was to produce Turkish drones for Ukraine was seriously damaged last night, deputy of the Lvov City Council Igor Zinkevich said, according to the Strana newspaper.
ReplyDelete"Last night, the Bayraktar Turkish drone factory in Kiev was hit for the fourth time in the last six months, with two strikes recorded," Strana quoted him as saying.
According to Zinkevich, the plant has not yet gone live, but most of the production facilities had already been prepared.
Chief of European diplomacy Kaja Kallas has summoned a Russian diplomat to talk over the damage caused to the building of the EU mission in Kiev allegedly by Russian overnight strikes.

Earlier, head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said that two explosions occurred overnight 50 meters from the EU mission in Kiev. No one was injured. She has already issued three statements on the matter this morning. The European Commissioner for Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib said that the windows of the mission were broken and the ceiling crumbled.
The EU mission is located in an office building in Kiev next to a large railroad depot to which weapons from EU countries are transported, among other things. Videos shared on Ukrainian social media show explosions at the depot at night. Air defense systems were also operating in the vicinity.
The European Union and the UK have summoned top Russian diplomats after a massive attack on the Ukrainian capital in which 15 people were killed and the EU's diplomatic mission and British council buildings were damaged.

The drone and missile assault "shows that the Kremlin will stop at nothing to terrorise Ukraine, blindly killing civilians, men, women and children, and even targeting the European Union," the European Commission President told reporters in Brussels.
"The Russian armed forces are fulfilling their tasks," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
