Belarusians detained after drone flown over Polish president’s residence

Authorities in Poland have said that two Belarusian citizens were detained and a drone was “neutralised” after it was flown over government buildings and the presidential residence in the capital city, Warsaw.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said early on Tuesday that members of the country’s State Protection Services apprehended the two Belarusians, and police were “investigating the circumstances of the incident”.

    The episode comes after Poland shot down Russian drones that entered the country’s airspace on Sept. 10, putting NATO allies on high alert across the continent.

"Le Service de protection de l'Etat (SOP, organisme chargé de la sécurité des membres du pouvoir et des institutions d'Etat) vient de neutraliser un drone survolant des bâtiments gouvernementaux" dans la capitale, dont le palais du Belvédère, une des résidences présidentielles, a écrit M. Tusk sur son compte X.

    "Deux citoyens biélorusses ont été arrêtés", a-t-il ajouté.

  5. Un drone aurait été neutralisé au-dessus de Varsovie ce lundi soir. Selon Donald Tusk, Premier ministre polonais, deux citoyens biélorusses ont été arrêtés suite à cette intrusion. Aucune information n’a été donnée sur les motivations ou la provenance exacte du drone, mais l’opération s’est déroulée sans incident pour les forces de sécurité.
