The car used in carrying out Delhi's blast on Monday evening belonged to Mohammad Umar, a resident of Indian-controlled Kashmir, claimed Delhi Police sources on Tuesday.
Police said that Umar, a medical practitioner, was seated inside the car when it blew off at around 6:52 p.m. near Delhi's historic monument Red Fort, killing at least eight people and injuring around two dozen others.
A few cars in the immediate vicinity had caught fire and many nearby buildings were partially damaged. The sound of the blast could be heard up to 500 meters from the site.
According to the police, Umar was the fourth owner of the car, which had been bought possibly two weeks ago.
