There was not one objection when 93 members of Israel’s parliament voted in favour of establishing a military tribunal to prosecute Palestinians from Gaza accused of being involved in the October 7, 2023, attacks on Israel.
It was an unusually united front for the Israeli lawmakers present for the vote.
The tribunal can impose the death penalty and open hearings to the public, moves that seriously undermine the rights of Palestinians to a fair trial, human rights workers say.
