US to use military force if Iran fails to reach deal within reasonable timeframe

US President Donald Trump will employ the full capabilities of the US armed forces if Tehran does not reach a deal with Washington within a reasonable time-frame, US Permanent Representative to NATO Matthew Whitaker said.

"If Iran is not willing to make a deal in a prudent amount of time, than he [Trump] is going to use all of the incredible Armed Forces and the military the United States has to get a situation where Iran will make a deal," Whitaker said in an interview with Fox Business. He did not specify what timeframe Washington considers reasonable for reaching an agreement with Tehran.

  1. US President Donald Trump and Iran's senior officials have traded new threats of further action, after the two sides exchanged strikes.

Trump said Tehran had taken "too long to negotiate a deal" and would now "have to pay the price", without giving specific details. He said Iran had been "completely defeated" and was "all talk and no action".

It came after Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi earlier warned his country would "leave no attack or threat unanswered", saying that the US had suffered "defeats on the battlefield".

  2. The Iranian military has been "completely defeated," US President Donald Trump claimed.

"Iran’s military is a complete and total mess. Much of it, like their Navy and Air Force, doesn’t even exist anymore - they have been completely defeated. Iran is all talk and no action. The Bully of the Middle East is dead!" he wrote on Truth Social.
