Canada prepared for the possibility of a military invasion by the U.S.

Canada has spent the past year preparing for the possibility of a military invasion by the U.S., Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stated in an interview with The New York Times.

"It is simply a matter of monitoring risks. It is not the baseline scenario, but it would be irresponsible not to prepare," the politician responded, following remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding his desire to make Canada the 51st state.

The prime minister stated that his country wants to reduce its military dependence on the U.S. satellite communications network Starlink. 

He explained that Canada intends to cooperate in this area with European countries and South Korea.
