Iran has strongly condemned the baseless claims made by the Colombian government against the Islamic Republic and part of Iran’s official armed forces, IRNA reported.
In a statement on Friday, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described Colombia’s move to cut diplomatic relations with Iran as contrary to the principle of mutual respect and inconsistent with the interests and welfare of the two nations. It emphasized that Colombia has made the decision solely under the influence of the Zionist regime and the United States.
The statement reiterated that the Colombian government, which is effectively considered part of the global network of drug terrorism (narcoterrorism), is in no position to advise others about terrorism and narcotics.
The seizure of a 55-kilogram consignment of pure Colombian cocaine in Tehran in recent days is one of the latest discoveries of organized crime attributed to the Colombian government, the statement added.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran, in line with safeguarding its national interests, will take the necessary measures in response to this unjustified and hostile approach by the Colombian government,” the statement concluded.
