Crude prices extended their gains on Tuesday, driven by new concerns over potential supply interruptions in a critical petroleum-producing region following the flare-up of hostilities between the US and Iran.
Brent crude futures advanced by 56 cents, or 0.6 percent, settling at $91.05 per barrel as of 00:44 GMT, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude climbed 83 cents, or 1 percent, to $86.59 per barrel.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said early Tuesday that a tanker had been struck by three unknown projectiles while exiting the Strait of Hormuz off Oman.
ReplyDeleteThe incident took place 17 nautical miles (31 kilometers/20 miles) east of Khasab as the vessel was completing an outbound transit of the strait, the UKMTO said.
No casualties or environmental impact were reported.
Authorities are investigating the incident, while the UKMTO advised vessels in the area to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity.
