Stocks fall as Middle East attacks send oil towards $100 a barrel

Markets are declining after a volley of attacks on energy facilities drove oil to near $100 a barrel.

Brent crude futures hit their highest in six weeks after Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthis attacked energy facilities and cities in Saudi Arabia, highlighting the risk of the conflict spreading throughout the Middle East and further complicating the supply of energy to world markets.

The price of diesel hit record highs and almost doubled from where it was before the start of the US-Israel war on Iran.
