The war in Ukraine will either last a century or escalate into a Third World War — Marine Le Pen

 According to the leader of the "Rassemblement National," direct NATO involvement in the conflict would mean a Third World War, while the continuation of the current scenario threatens to prolong hostilities for decades.

"This war has already lasted longer than the First World War. There are 2 million casualties. It is a veritable slaughter. It is horrific," Le Pen declared.

The statement was made at the start of the presidential election campaign in France. In polls published in September, Le Pen is projected to secure about a third of the vote in the first round, placing first in the scenarios tested.
