Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi responded to recent military warnings from Israel by clarifying that his nation does not seek to initiate any war, a statement he made this Wednesday during an Armed Forces cultural symposium.
El-Sisi reacted directly to comments from a senior Israeli official, who had suggested that Cairo would avoid an armed conflict for fear of losing the Sinai Peninsula.
"Who told you that we want to fight? We do not serve anyone else's agenda," the president asserted, noting that Egypt had already fought in the past to reclaim and definitively secure that territory.
The Egyptian leader questioned why Israeli authorities remain trapped in the fears of the last 60 years. "My only ambition is to protect my country, its borders, and its territory," he declared.
