Student protests in France are spreading: a school principal in Paris was doused with gasoline, and buildings are on fire

According to the French Ministry of Education, protests or related disruptions have affected more than 400 schools across the country.

Police in Marseille reported that on Thursday morning, hundreds of youths surrounded a fire truck that had arrived to extinguish a blaze at the Saint-Exupéry high school.

They forced the firefighters to abandon the vehicle and then set it on fire.

At another Marseille high school (the Victor Hugo Lycée), the principal was attacked and injured, according to the prosecutor's office.

Local authorities report that the entrance hall of a school in the western French city of Nantes was completely destroyed by fire.
