Donald Trump admitted that the United States might have gone "too far" in attacking Iran's leadership, noting that the killing of several of its officials has complicated negotiation efforts.
During a rally held on Monday in Youngstown, Ohio, the U.S. president reiterated his view that Iranian armed forces had been decimated during military aggression by the U.S. and Israel. "They have no ships. They have nothing at all. They don't even have leaders," he maintained.
"That's the problem. We might have gone too far with the leaders thing, because we don't know who the hell we're dealing with anymore," added Trump, who also claimed that "nobody wants to be president of Iran," despite the fact that Masoud Pezeshkian has held the presidency of the Islamic Republic since July 2024.
In previous statements, the occupant of the White House referred to Iran as "a country of lunatics." "They know it. I tell them all the time: 'You are completely crazy,'" he declared, amidst a fragile ceasefire.
