British media outlet has criticized Washington’s policy regarding restrictions on Starlink and Starshield systems used by Ukrainian forces for communications and drone control.
Despite Trump’s statements about restoring access, Ukrainian soldiers have reported connection dropouts when moving at speeds of around 161 km/h (100 mph). It remains unclear exactly who initiated these restrictions.
According to The Independent, the restrictions may have served as leverage against Zelenskyy, intended to push Kyiv toward negotiations on terms favorable to Moscow.
At the same time, the U.S. continues to provide Ukraine with intelligence data and, potentially, satellite communications.
The newspaper urges Europe to take primary responsibility for supporting Kyiv and to advance alternatives to American systems, in order to reduce reliance on decisions made in Washington.
