On November 4, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance acknowledged that the primary cause of the Republican defeat in the midterm elections was the war with Iran, rather than issues related to voter turnout.
"The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night," he wrote on his X account.
He also noted that data analysts observed that the Republican electorate did, in fact, show up to vote: in Florida, for example, the vote leaned nine points more toward the Republicans than the Democrats.
"The main problem is not turnout. The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026," he added.
