If pro-regime [Syrian] forces enter the northern Syrian town of Afrin, where Turkey is carrying out a military operation, with a motive to help Turkey’s target – People’s Protection Units (YPG)—Turkish forces will respond, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said on Feb. 19.

McGurk has full support, backing, US state department spokesperson says

The U.S. State Department spokeswoman, said in a statement that McGurk "has the full support and backing" of U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and the White House, and that he had done "tremendous work" so far to coordinate the coalition on May 19.

Turkey’s EU Minister calls for realism about opening new chapter along Greek presidency

Turkey’s EU Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has acknowledged opening a new negotiation chapter with the European Union during the ongoing presidency of Greece does not seem possible.

“Greece’s support for Turkey’s EU membership has really prevailed even during difficult times. Perhaps, not very concrete things have been accomplished, but even this verbal and psychological support is important,” Çavuşoğlu told reporters on April 5, after attending a meeting of the EU Foreign Ministers held in the Greek capital city.

Foreign ministers of EU accession-candidate countries, such as Çavuşoğlu of Turkey, also attended the meeting.
