Turkey calls on Obama to veto ‘9/11 bill’ : Obama is not going to sign this law.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry on Sept. 23 called for U.S. President Barack Obama to prevent the “Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act” from becoming law, saying it contradicts international law and the principles of the U.N. Charter, particularly regarding the sovereignty and equality of states.

Poroshenko vows that Crimea will be returned to Ukraine ("not necessarily... by military means")


As the European Union announced a fresh wave of sanctions against Moscow, Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko vowed Friday to reunite the Russian-held region of Crimea with the rest of the country.
The annexation of Crimea, which sparked a diplomatic crisis with the West, will be reversed not by military force, but by an "economic and democratic petition" Poroshenko declared. 

"In a few days I go to the United States where we have a very important meeting with the US Congress (and) the US president... We are also hoping in the very near future for a special status of a non-NATO member alliance," Poroshenko, speaking in English, told an international business forum in Kiev.

Το αμερικανικό Κογκρέσο ενέκρινε μυστικά την αποστολή ελαφρύ οπλισμού σε μετριοπαθείς αντάρτες της Συρίας στο νότιο τμήμα της χώρας, μεταδίδει το ειδησεογραφικό πρακτορείο Reuters.

Σύμφωνα με το δημοσίευμα, το Κογκρέσο ενέκρινε την αποστολή όπλων στη Συρία μέχρι το τέλος του δημοσιονομικού έτους στις 30 Σεπτεμβρίου. Πρόκειται για ελαφρύ οπλισμό και λίγα πιο ισχυρά όπλα όπως αντιαρματικές ρουκέτες. Δεν περιλαμβάνουν εκτοξευτές ρουκετών εδάφους - αέρος που μπορεί να χρησιμοποιούν στην κατάρριψη πολιτικών αεροσκαφών.

Μιλώντας στο Reuters, ο Μπρους Ρίντελ, πρώην αναλυτής της CIA και σύμβουλος εξωτερικής πολιτικής του αμερικανού προέδρου Μπαράκ Ομπάμα περιέγραψε τον πόλεμο στη Συρία ως «αδιέξοδο».

U.S. to keep 1,500 troops in Jordan. -A flood of refugees from Syria into Jordan has tested the Jordanian government...

The United States has about 1,500 U.S. troops in Jordan and they will remain there until the security situation improves, the White House told Congress on Friday.

The U.S. contingent in Jordan, which includes Patriot missile systems and fighter aircraft, is there to help the Jordanian government as it grapples with strains from the civil war in neighboring Syria.

A flood of refugees from Syria into Jordan has tested the Jordanian government of King Hussein, a close U.S. ally.

US to cut funding on Turkish Chinese-missile purchase

The U.S. Congress is set to adopt a law next week forbidding Turkey from using American funds to acquire a $4 billion missile system from a Chinese company blacklisted by Washington.

The United States has voiced deep concern over Turkey's decision in September to enter negotiations with China Precision Machinery Export-Import Corporation for its first long-range anti-missile system.

CPMIEC, which makes the HQ-9 missile system, is under U.S. sanctions for selling arms and missile technology to Iran and Syria.

Iran-Six: pas de négociations en cas de nouvelles sanctions US (Téhéran).

Téhéran se retirera des négociations avec les Six médiateurs internationaux sur son programme nucléaire si le Congrès américain adopte des sanctions supplémentaires contre l'Iran, rapporte lundi la chaîne Press TV en référence au député iranien Mohammad Hassan Asafari.

"Ces derniers temps, le Congrès américain ne cesse de s'appliquer à élargir les sanctions contre l'Iran. Notre décision est que si le Congrès approuve un tel projet de loi, les négociations (avec les Six, soit Etats-Unis, Chine, Russie, Grande-Bretagne, France et Allemagne) seront suspendues", a déclaré M.Asafari, de la commission pour la Sécurité nationale et la Politique étrangère.

Obama Urges No New Iran Sanctions...

WASHINGTON, November 14 (RIA Novosti) – US President Barack Obama on Thursday urged federal lawmakers not to enact further sanctions against Iran amid ongoing negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear program.
“If we’re serious about pursuing diplomacy, there’s no need to add new sanctions on top of the sanctions that are already very effective,” Obama told a White House news conference, adding that Washington can “dial those sanctions right back up” if Iran fails to comply with an agreement.
