Protest rally against Poland’s military support for Kiev held in Warsaw

KIEV -- Ukraine's acting President Oleksandr Turchynov has invited the UN to deploy forces in eastern parts of the country.

Pro-Russian protesters have occupied public buildings in ten towns in that region of Ukraine.
Turchynov's office said that in a telephone conversation with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, he invited the world organization to join the "anti-terrorist" operation in eastern Ukraine.

Such deployment would have to be authorized by the UN Security Council, where Russia holds a veto.

Washington, DC. -"The Venezuelan Government has notified us on the afternoon of February 17 that they have declared three of our consular officers personae non gratae. They were given 48 hours to leave the country. In accordance with Article 9 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and Article 23 of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, the United States is considering what actions to take.

We have seen many times that the Venezuelan Government tries to distract from its own actions by blaming the United States or other members of the international community for events inside Venezuela. These efforts reflect a lack of seriousness on the part of the Venezuelan Government to deal with the grave situation it faces.

Venezuelan president announces expulsion of three US diplomats

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced late Sunday he will expel three unnamed US consular officials, accusing them of meeting with university students organizing anti-government protests.

Venezuela has been rattled by unprecedented protests by students and the opposition against Maduro's government and marred by violence that peaked Wednesday, when three people were killed and dozens injured.
