And the Buk could have been launched by the Ukrainian Armed Forces," Alexei Pushkov, who heads the Russian lower parliamentary house's foreign affairs committee, said on Twitter.

China says Turkey will decide in its 'own interests' on missile system

China said on Sept. 9 that Turkey would decide in its "own interests" after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said the country was in talks with France on buying a missile defence system following disagreements with Beijing.

MOSCOW, August 11. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s Aerospace Defense Forces have started the redeployment of personnel and military equipment to the Ashuluk range in southern Russia (Astrakhan region), the Russian Defense Ministry told ITAR-TASS on Monday.
The second active phase of the scheduled tactical exercise with field firing will be held there, the ministry added.
“The first train with the S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile systems, special engineer equipment, as well as supplies for the deployment of a field camp for the personnel has arrived at the Ashuluk range,” the ministry said.

Kiev Should Have Informed Airlines About Possible Use of Buk Missiles in Advance. (...what instructions were received by air traffic services)

If the Ukrainian military were aware about the possible use of Buk missiles in the southeast of the country, they should have informed the crews flying over the territory, the head of Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) Alexandr Neradko said Friday. 

“If we assume that the Ukrainian Armed Forces knew about the possible use of surface-to-air anti-aircraft Buk missiles, they should have facilitated the work of appropriate radar stations, the way it was done by the Russian air Forces,” he said.
Neradko stressed that in such cases the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) requires to immediately get in touch with the planes’ crew members and warn them about the emergency situation, which was not done in case with MH17 flight.

US concerned about Russia's missile deployment

US reacts to reports of Russia deploying missiles in its Baltic Sea exclave of Kaliningrad, which borders NATO members Poland and Lithuania, with an plea not to "destabilize the region", said State Department Deputy Spokeswoman Marie Harf  on Tuesday.

The deployment of the Iskander missiles, which have a range of hundreds of kilometers has caused alarm in Poland and the Baltic states, which are wary of Russian military movements after decades of dominance by the Soviet Union. Their alarm was aggravated by tension between Russia and the West over Ukraine.

“Missile troops and artillery units of the Western Military District are in fact armed with Iskander operational and tactical missile systems,” Defense Ministry Spokesperson Igor Konashenkov said on Monday, December 16.

He stressed that “concrete areas where Iskander squadrons are stationed in the Western Military District do not run counter to international agreements.”

NATO member Greece tests Russian missiles

NATO member Greece says it has successfully tested a Russian made S300 surface-to-air missile system during a military exercise on the island of Crete, for the first time since the system was acquired 14 years ago.

Greece bought the missiles in the late 1990s to defuse a crisis between Turkey and war-divided Cyprus, where the internationally recognized ethnic Greek government had initially ordered the missiles and eventually conceded them to the government in Athens.

US to cut funding on Turkish Chinese-missile purchase

Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdoğan last week said Ankara would be open to new offers if its talks about co-producing a long-range air and missile defense system with China Precision Machinery Import and Export Corp (CPMIEC) fail.

Turkey’s decision to choose a $3.4 billion Chinese offer over rival bids from Russian, U.S. and European firms has raised concern among Turkey’s Western allies. The sources familiar with the U.S. proposal to supply a Raytheon-built Patriot missile defense system said Turkish officials had requested an extension of the pricing included in the bid while their talks continued with China.

Japan issues order to shoot down N Korean rocket

The Japanese government on Friday issued an order to shoot down a North Korean rocket if it threatens the nation’s territory.
Tokyo has readied surface-to-air missiles in and around Tokyo, as well as in Okinawa, and is putting its armed forces on standby ahead of Pyongyang’s planned missile launch.
It is also deploying Aegis warships in neighboring waters.
Defense Minister Satoshi Morimoto has told forces to destroy the projectile or any parts that look set to fall on Japanese territory, Chief Cabinet Secretary Osamu Fujimura told reporters.

Ο κ. Ιβανόφ δήλωσε πως "είναι άγνωστο σε ποιά άλλα χέρια θα καταλήξουν τα φορητά αυτά συστήματα και ποιο θα είναι εκέινο το επιβατικό αεροσκάφος το οποίο θα καταρρίψουν". 

Θέλοντας να δείξει για μια ακόμα φορά την διαφορετική και νόμιμη στάση που τηρεί η χώρα του και στο ζήτημα της Συρίας, ο επικεφαλής της προεδρικής διοίκησης επανέλαβε πως τα όπλα με τα οποία έχει προμηθέψει η χώρα του τη Συρία είναι αμιγώς αμυντικά.
