10 more locally spread Zika cases identified in Florida, travel notice issued

“Russia has taken response measures," she said. “We have no such practice (to publish a Russian blacklist of European officials barred from entering Russia). We do not publish such lists.”
Those Western colleagues who feel they may be on the list should check it through diplomatic channels before traveling to Russia, she said.
“Sanctions are not our caprice. It is only a response measure,” she added.

Havana (CNN) -- Fidel Castro "is doing very well," Venezuela's former vice president said Sunday, showing reporters a snapshot of the former Cuban leader that he said was taken the day before.

Speculation has surged over Castro's health in recent weeks. He has not been seen publicly since March, when he met with Pope Benedict XVI during the pontiff's visit to Cuba.

(Reuters) - A letter by former Cuban leader Fidel Castro congratulating a Havana medical institute on its 50th anniversary was splashed across the front pages of Cuban newspapers on Thursday in his first appearance in print in four months.

The letter and an accompanying story, which took up the entire first page of the Communist Party newspaper Granma, appeared to be an attempt to squelch rumors about his health and to lend his weight to the government's justification for imposition of travel restrictions 50 years ago.

Amid much speculation, Cuba state media releases message from Fidel Castro

(CNN) -- Cuban state media released a message from Fidel Castro, the first communique said to be from the ex-leader since speculation over his health[1] reached a fever pitch last week.

There were no new images of Castro, 86, released Wednesday.

He has not been seen since publicly since March when he met with Pope Benedict XVI during the pontiff's visit to Cuba.

Castro's usually frequent newspaper columns and musings suddenly ended in June. But his silence after the re-election of close ally Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez in October prompted many of his opponents to wonder whether Castro was again ailing or perhaps dead.

Cuba ends travel exit permit policy

Cubans who wish to travel abroad will no longer require an exit permit as from January 14, 2013, according to the foreign ministry.
The changes, announced on Tuesday, also include an extension to the period citizens are allowed to remain abroad from 11 to 24 months.
The ministry said in a statement that the new law would take effect within 90 days.
The announcement will come as a welcome relief to frustrated citizens who have endured stringent travel restrictions for half a century.
