Ukraine is restricting the movement of civilians within a 20-kilometre (12-mile) zone bordering Russia in the northern Sumy region, Kyiv's general staff has said.
It said in a statement that the measure was needed due to intensifying fighting and the activation of Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups in the area.
The area borders Russia's Kursk region, where Ukrainian forces have captured Russian territory in a lightning offensive launched a week ago.
