Alternative for Germany (AfD) has snatched victory from the Social Democratic Party (SPD) in the regional elections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, according to exit poll data released by the television channel ARD.
According to the broadcaster, the AfD secured approximately 37% of the vote, the SPD 35.5%, and The Left party 7.5%. Meanwhile, the Christian Democratic Union—led by Friedrich Merz—received just 5.5% of the vote, marking the worst-ever regional election result for the conservatives.
For the AfD, this success in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania marks its third regional election victory, following wins in Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt.

La Unión Demócrata Cristiana de Alemania (CDU), el partido liderado por el canciller Friedrich Merz, obtuvo este domingo su peor resultado de la historia en unas elecciones locales en el estado de Mecklemburgo-Pomerania Occidental.

El segundo lugar lo ocupa el Partido Socialdemócrata de Alemania (SPD), con más del 35 %.
