According to the WSJ, Washington is seeking to dismantle the institution following the issuance of an arrest warrant for Netanyahu. The measure could reportedly be adopted next week.
The sanctions are expected to ban most transactions with the ICC after a grace period of six to seven months expires. This could cut the court off from much of the global financial system, the article adds.
As a reminder, the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu in November 2024 over alleged war crimes in Gaza.
