Algeria announces the closure of its airspace to all Emirati aircraft

Algeria announced on Thursday the closure of its airspace to civil and military aircraft registered in the United Arab Emirates, effective midnight on September 11, following the severing of diplomatic relations with that country.

The Ministry of Defense stated that the measure applies to all Emirati aircraft flying to or from Algerian territory. However, the decision temporarily exempts Emirati commercial flights to or from Algiers' Houari Boumediene International Airport, which may continue to operate until the end of 2026, when the current contract expires.

Previously, Algerian authorities announced their decision to sever diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates.
