"European leaders understand only brute force": Medvedev calls for the confiscation of foreign assets without compensation

The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council stated that, in response to sanctions and restrictions targeting Russian companies, Moscow must go beyond the mere temporary administration of Western corporate assets.

As an example, Medvedev cited the practice from the early years of Soviet rule, when foreign companies were forcibly transferred to state ownership without compensation.

 "In all seriousness: We need to move beyond the temporary administration of foreign assets," Medvedev wrote.

He further stated that Russia must respond to American sanctions initiatives using "the language of direct military deterrence."
