Madyar has been stripped of his parliamentary immunity

139 MPs voted to lift his immunity; there were no votes against and no abstentions.

The Hungarian Prime Minister could become the first head of government in the world to be convicted of stealing a mobile phone.

The case stems from an incident at a Budapest nightclub in June 2024. According to the prosecution, Magyar took a phone from a man who was filming him and later threw the device into the Danube.

The Prime Minister himself claims the incident was a provocation orchestrated by the previous authorities.
