Projectile attack on oil tanker reported in the Strait of Hormuz

Two crew members sustained minor injuries after an oil tanker transiting the Strait of Hormuz was struck by a projectile of unknown origin, according to an advisory issued on Monday by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).

The incident occurred as the vessel was passing through the strait; it subsequently continued its voyage to the next port of call under its own power.

Authorities reported that no environmental impact has been detected so far and noted that the incident is under investigation. 

The UKMTO advised vessels passing through the area to exercise extreme caution and report any suspicious activity.
