The United States refused to provide air cover to Saudi Arabia in the ongoing conflict against Yemen's Ansar Allah movement, also known as the Houthis, the Financial Times reported on Tuesday, citing a diplomatic source.
This refusal comes shortly after President Donald Trump also rejected a Saudi request last week to support its attacks against the armed group.
According to the diplomat, Riyadh requested US air cover, but Washington responded that it was unwilling to intervene at that time, as its focus remained on its war against Iran.
Against this backdrop, analysts cited by the outlet note that direct U.S. military involvement appears increasingly unlikely, even though the relationship between Riyadh and Washington remains close.
At the same time, the publication indicates that Washington continues to support Saudi forces with intelligence and targeting data, while Saudi Arabia persists in striking Houthi positions in Yemen.
