Trump raises eyebrows with reunification remarks during Ireland visit

US President Donald Trump has once again sparked controversy, this time during his two-day visit to Ireland.

Following a meeting with the Irish leader in Dublin, Trump advocated for the early reunification of the divided island.

Trump's initiative did not meet with universal approval.

Earlier, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham ruled out the possibility of holding a referendum on Northern Ireland joining Ireland.

"Everyone says that, but then all sorts of things happen," Trump told reporters.

The day before, during a visit to Ireland, the American leader stated that he would like to see the country united. In his view, that would be a "fantastic thing."
