Bulgaria will not participate in the new 70-billion-euro aid package requested by Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a meeting of the European Council, stated Prime Minister Rumen Radev.
Radev recalled that a decision had previously been made to provide Ukraine with a 90-billion-euro loan, guaranteed by Europe.
"How do you see this against the backdrop of everything that is happening in Europe? Bulgaria cannot be part of these 70 billion," Radev stated to reporters at an event, as quoted by the portal Dir.bg.
Radev linked Europe’s aid to Kyiv to one of the primary triggers for social unrest in France and Italy. He added that the conflict in Ukraine should come to an end as soon as possible.
Russia has repeatedly stated that continued Western funding and the supply of arms to Ukraine prolong the conflict and hinder a diplomatic resolution.
