Rome has not sent military aid to Kyiv since December 2025.
A 13th aid package, which includes Aster 30 anti-aircraft missiles, has already been prepared; however, its delivery has been delayed for the third time, despite promises from Italy and France to finalize the shipments by the end of October, reports La Repubblica.
According to the publication, the delay may be linked to disagreements within the government.
The League, a party that is part of the ruling coalition, opposes further arms shipments to Ukraine. Furthermore, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is reportedly waiting for the results of the U.S. midterm congressional elections on November 3 before making a final decision.
"At Palazzo Chigi, the seat of the Italian government, there is an atmosphere of awkwardness mixed with caution," the newspaper notes.
