CENTCOM rejects Iran claim that US forces have abandoned Strait of Hormuz

US Central Command (CENTCOM) has pushed back on a claim by the navy commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that American forces have abandoned the Strait of Hormuz.

In a post on X, CENTCOM called the claim false, saying US forces deployed to the Middle East remain present and vigilant in the strait and surrounding waters.

CENTCOM added that US forces and regional partners control the international waterway, “clearly not Iran.”
