The incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. on October 18. Unidentified individuals attempted to set fire to a ground-based satellite communications station on the outskirts of the Lithuanian capital.
The fire was quickly extinguished; the equipment sustained only minor damage, and the station’s operations remained uninterrupted. A search for the suspects is underway.
Vilmantas Vitkauskas, head of Lithuania’s National Crisis Management Centre, stated that the event was not a typical case of arson, but rather an act of sabotage directed against Ukraine.
"We understand that this was not an ordinary case of arson, but an act of sabotage. These actions are part of Russia’s attempts to disrupt the operation of Starlink and undermine the success of Ukrainian operations. The target is Ukraine."
Vitkauskas also linked the incident to similar occurrences in Bulgaria and Poland. In Bulgaria, several Starlink antennas were set on fire on October 10, while in Poland, a fire in September damaged a station’s power supply system and backup generator.
